Day One

Tomorrow I begin my journey to be a TEFL certified English teacher. And to get my feet wet, I'm teaching the Conversational English Club at CEDEI at El Centro. It's not a big stretch as I've been doing it the University of Cuenca and the Polytechnic University for a while and after all, I do speak English (as a native speaker), but it's also the beginning of TEFL training (80 hours minimum) to prepare for teaching in April.

So tomorrow (day one), I will be using some material online and, of course, CEDEI's conversational materials. The first day of anything is always difficult, but it's also the day you remember the most.

My class is 9-11 a.m. and since I'm not a morning person, I'll be setting my alarm clock at 7:00 a.m. to make sure I catch the #3 bus to El Centro and then I want to be in class before my students arrive -- right?

I'll be reporting back on my students and my first day. I told my hubby to wake me up just in case I slept through the alarm. He teaches an 8:00 a.m. intensive Saturday class (three hours). He's about 8 months ahead of me in his training, so he'll be my mentor!

Until next time...hasta luego!
